Michigan is my favorite place in the world. It is the place I call home. Although I was born in Arizona, a mere three days later I was jet setting to Northern Michigan and never looked back. There are so many things about my town that make it special to me. The small town shops, the docks, the lakes, the beach, the open air... I could go on forever. I have been so "home sick" lately that the pangs come in huge fits of sadness. I long to be cooking in my family kitchen, sitting on my deck and looking out over the still lake on a Sunday morning. In a few weeks I'll be moving to Chicago (again) and am so looking forward to taking weekend drives up north.

here at the Leland Report. It is how I get my daily fix. As I teenager, I worked in these little shanty shops (below-- from the Leland Report). I would walk around barefoot managing two small boutiques, talking with friends who passed by, watching the fisherman bringing in fresh whitefish that I often grilled up for dinner, sharing stories about our little town with strangers. It is the place I feel most myself, most happy, and most free.
